Since the introduction of dynamic rockfall protection barriers over 40 years ago in Switzerland, net designs were continually researched and developed to catch and retain rockfall, debris flow and small snow avalanches. From 1989 through 2001, several research projects with Geobrugg in the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Spain, South Korea and in Switzerland, conducting 1:1 field tests have been realised with the target to improve the energy absorbing capacity, the economy and the safety of dynamic rockfall barriers, and static slope protection systems.

Rock anchors and soil nails offer the possibility to stabilize steep slopes comprising of loose, disintegrated and weathered rock as well as soil. These so called active systems provide a support to the rock surface as a combination of rock nailing, to guarantee the overall stability of the concerned slope section, with a special tensioned wire rope net or wire mesh in between the anchor grid. Similar to the rockfall barriers these systems can be designed and adapted to the local slope conditions and boulders to be retained.

The materials and services offered in the following are based on the latest technology and knowledge, gained thru comprehensive field tests and practical applications worldwide. For a proper and safe function it is important that only originally manufactured material of Geobrugg is used and the systems are anchored and installed according to the product manual and instructions of Geobrugg.
